New Jersey Sexual Abuse Attorneys
If you are a survivor of sexual abuse or sexual assault, it’s time for your voice to be heard. Institutions have been covering up sexual abuse for decades and the time has come to hold them accountable. If you are a survivor of sexual abuse or sexual assault in New Jersey, a new law gives you the opportunity to now file a lawsuit against those that are responsible for the abuse. This includes abuse committed by:
- Priests, rabbis and other members of the clergy
- Boy Scout leaders, Girl Scout leaders, Scoutmasters, or other BSA/GSA volunteers
- Doctors, psychologists, nurses, therapists and other medical professionals
- Teachers, trainers, coaches, and other authority figures
Now is the time to hold those who are responsible accountable for the wrongs done. Even if you are not ready to publicly pursue your abuser, we can file a lawsuit anonymously, so your name will not be known by the public.
It’s No Longer Too Late. You Can Sue Now.
A new law which took effect on December 1, 2019 now gives New Jersey victims of sexual abuse or assault more time to file civil lawsuits against their alleged abusers and the institutions that protected them. The new law provides:
- A two-year window from December 1, 2019 for the filing of any civil sexual abuse claim no matter the age of the survivor, when the abuse occurred, or if the abuser is alive or dead.
- Child victims will be able to make claims until they turn 55.
- All victims will be able to make claims within seven years of discovering the damage it caused them.
For some survivors, it can take years to acknowledge the abuse happened and to recognize the true damage that it has caused in their lives. With this law, sexual predators and their enablers will no longer be able to silence the victims and shield themselves from liability simply through the passage of time. Their time is up.
