$2.5 million settlement for negligence against alarm company. Grajales v. Vanwell Electronics. This case involved claims of negligence against an alarm company for injuries sustained by a hotel clerk attacked by a mentally disturbed man while she was working an overnight shift. The alarm company failed to monitor the hotel’s security system which the company installed and maintained, and consequently the emergency panic button was not functioning. The case settled for $2.5 million on the second day of trial.
